I have 2 small frags of Yellow Porites and they are both starting to color up. One of them seems like it might be extending its polyps but I am not sure (2nd photo). What do you guys think?

They all look closed to me. I have never had that coral before but it doesn't look healthy to me. I could be way off though. How long have you had it? Most of the base looks dead in the first pic.
Here's a pic of a healthy one with full polyp extension:

Sorry for the bad pop ups. **** host! I will start a webshots account or something.
I got these corals about a week ago. They were actually shipped 2-3 day shipping so I am sure they were not in too good of shape when I got them. They were however free! Maybe the polyps are starting to come out in the 2nd pic? I hope so....

Nice. What kind of clown is that in the first picture?

SM1983 I took your pictures out. Please upload to something like photo bucket so the pop ups don't appear. Thanks!

Ok, got a better host. I am going to go get some marine snow or phyto and hopefully I can get these guys to turn around. Also doing a 5g water change today.

What kind of lighting do you have on this tank and how long has it been set up? It looks like a fairly new tank considering I do not see any coralline algae on the rocks or tank walls. That could be a concern as to why the polyps have not come out yet.

It is a new coral in your tank. It does seem like it is coming our in the last picture posted. Wait a few more days and see. Porite are fairly easy to keep

I have pink and mine looks nowhere near like yours. Mine look fuzzy and took about a day for the polyps to come out. How tall is your tank and what kind of lights and flow do you have it under.

The tank is a 20g with a 150w MH on it. I have had it set up for around 3 months. I know it was much too early for these corals in the normal scheme of things but they were given to me by John at reefcleaner.org. They did go through a 3 day mailing process so I am sure they were under quite a bit of stress. They seem to be somewhat coming around, new buttons are showing on the one piece.

Be careful with them on light exposure. They don't required, and may not tolerate, that much light
