I have been in the saltwater business for 2 years now. I have a 75g rr system and love it. It has a e2 skimmer and w/ a 35g refugium and 25g sump. I have had a 12g nano sitting in my garage when I bought it about a year ago for $50. SOme guy wanted to get rid of it and I thought it was a great steal. What is the best way to set it up. Feels kinda funny asking to set up a smaller tank. Live rock and live sand from my larger tank? What is the best way.

Thx

Congrats on the "new" tank setup!
I would stay away from very deep sand bed if I were you, it does tend to grow algae around a little quicker or at least on mine. What kind of lighting will you be setting up, and what are you planning on having in your tank?

yeah i think the live rock and some live sand from your old setup will be fine, try to keep the rockwork away from the glass so that you can get to glass to clean it.

...I have had a 12g nano sitting in my garage...

Is it a NanoCube or a regular tank?

If it is a regular tank, I say plumb it into your system. If you did this, it would be less supseptable to "nano-swings."

If it is a NanoCube, definately change out the lights first, get new ones. Maybe make a mini refugium in the rear compartment.

Let's find out what kind of tank it is first, lol.
