I have two of these little critters visit me every night in the garage. They seem fairly tame-ish although I doubt I'd stick my finger in their mouth. The mothers nowhere to be seen so Im thinking these little dudes are orphans..

I HATE those things!!! They kill my chickens, eat all the eggs, eat the dog's and cat's food, and have destroyed the underside of my house. I kill about 1 a week.

Jim,
There is also a rescue off Hwy 290 in Austin...my son and his girlfriend found a nest of baby RATS recently and did not want to kill them (I was ready to do a drop-kick), and I called the animal rescue and they had lots of experience with tube feeding these little things...I asked "why would you want to save rats when we have companies that their sole profession is terminate these things?"...I was told they do release them back into the wild, far away from homes and businesses....just saving God's creatures, I guess

I have all kinds of critters in my yard, They usually just hang around for the cat food then disappear . If I have to, I can always trap them myself and relocate them but for now Im gonna just leave them be.

Awe, don't kill the buggers...they are cute. They can't help their nature. Relocate...heck I relocate the mice that get into my house...and even the scorpions (YUCK). The only thing we've seen at our place are usually mice and rabbits. We have some rabbits that live under our porch. Lots of rabbits around us...and road runners.

Cute possum, gotta show some love for North America's only native marsupial.

Kinda sad, We've got them everywhere around here too, they love cat and dog food along with a ton of other things..... I dont know how shelter life is for them, but I wouldnt bring them there, Either kill them if they are damaging something you care a lot about like chicken eggs or something, or just let them be, their not really that bad of an animal. when their young like that they sure are cute. Animals that live in the city are domesticated even if wild, they rely on cat food and dog food bowls and such to live..... It would be cruel to drop them off in the country somewhere. Some of them might make it through instinct, but some of them probably wouldnt be lucky enough to find a chicken coop or someones back porch dog bowl in time to survive. I'd just let them be :)

LMBO!!! That raccoon vid was funny! You are pretty brave Jim. Those are two rough types of critters... it's nice to see peaceful shots of them both. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, I got lucky with the racoon, him falling off the shelf was classic! lol... The baby possoms are fairly 'tame' to the point where I can feed them by hand then they scurry off but always come back for more.... I thought there were only two, last night I saw that there were three, Im hoping to get a family portrait for posterity... :)

Question, how many stupid cats do you see in this picture?

That is such a cute photo! Good for you for letting them enjoy themselves. My friend lives in Blanco and she feeds about 100 deer, 20 or so coons and so on. She got a photo of a coon family that scurried away from her and up a tree. She snapped a cool photo looking up at them and the four babies were on different branches looking down at her.
We sometimes see armadillos and bunnies, but usually it's just mice and snakes. Here is a photo of one of our visitors. Last Friday I found it in my living room.

Hey John, don't hold back, tell us what you really think! LMAO
I don't know if this is folklore or not, but I've heard adults will try to kill cats.
I know they'll hiss at you like mad if you catch one in a havaheart trap. But that's better than dealing with a skunk!

This is what the back side of the chicken coop looks like after the last possums were in there.
I hate to think of what my living room would look like if I find a huge snake inside.

Glad I wasn't that possum. I caught the snake myself and kept it until hubby got home so we could take pics...then let him go. If it were a poisonous one I'd probably have marks like that too LOL.

Cob, This may someday save your life. lol
http://www.noble.org/ag/wildlife/snakes/index.html
All North American venomous snakes are recognized as 'pit vipers', so the next time you might think you want to pick up a snake and pet it, it would be a good idea to look for the 'pit' first..

All poisonous snakes in Texas have diamond heads and cat eyes except the coral snake.
Coral snakes look alot like king snakes but have a different color pattern.

Oh, Jim, I'm not the dork in scary movies that sees a killer and runs upstairs...or looks in the dark allie and says "Hello" to see what the noise was... I get out of dodge man!
