Not that it applies to me, but I have a question regarding a recently closed thread.....

How would one know what their For Sale to General Post ratio is? I've checked my stats, and that info does not show up anywhere. I can see my total posts, but not the number in the For Sale forum. And, on top of that, any interest I may have in buying something that someone else is selling seems like it would be considered a "For Sale" post.

Kind of harsh to consider someone a retailer if they buy a lot of stuff from other members, huh?!?

I understand the intent of this By-Law. But, it seems that maybe things were not thought out completely. I know I would be pretty upset if my thread was locked and I really didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes following the rules because they are the rules is not necessarily the right thing to do. Maybe things need to be tweaked a little here....

The BOD is currently in the process of tweaking things. Until then the previous rules will apply. In order to find a posters ratio you must individually count their posts.

I believe a person knows if they contribute as often or more in the for sale forum, than they contribute in the General Forums. As you first stated, "Not that it applies to me," you are aware of your posts and what you contribute to each forum.
The bylaws were put into place due to protect both the Members and the Sponsors. It is unfortunate for those who disregard the bylaws, but rules are rules, harsh as they may appear to be. This site is not intended to become a classified.....it is a portal of shared knowledge for the benefit of Members.
I do agree and will ask the admins if there is a way to separate the "For Sale" forum posts versus the "General Forum" Posts as will create a greater awareness for the Members who are posting and the Moderators job less complicated. I cannot assure you, in this will happen, for I am not a part of the governing body.
