breedine mysis shrimp in refugium

I was thinking about trying to breed mysis shrimp in my refugium. I was told that they do quite well in there. Has anyone done this before? Any ideas or web sites to visit?

only thing i have seen are the little hatchers they might end up in your tank through the out put but that will equal food. the hatchers are cheap to get if you want to go that route. but if not let us know how it goes since i am looking to get a hob fuge if all goes well with you i will do it as well.

I'm currently finishing an above tank fuge to grow out mysis and pods. Problem with mysis is they are cannablistic, and they may just eat each other and my pods, defeating the purpose of breeding them in a small fuge. In a large one, they may have a better chance of sustaining a decent population. But, I'm curious enough i'm still going to try it. (I may grow the pods in the above tank, and stick the mysis in the under tank fuge. Best of both worlds, and manually catch msysis to put in the main tank.

After a few weeks when I'm ready though, i'd be willing to split an order with you, makes the cost a little bit easier to bear.

"If you build it they will come". Pods will find their way into a fuge and find an equilibrium. A jump start does not hurt, but it is not necessary. Macro from an established fuge is a good way to start. Even if the fuge is not going to stay vegatative.

I find little silver grey things in my filter material when i clean it. looks like little shrimp or something lol.

My 'fuge is a 75 gallon aquarium that I converted into a macroalgae 'fuge, and I've seen lots of what looks like little live mysids swimming around in it. They first appeared a few months after it was set up. I never deliberately added them, but they probably rode in on some macroalgae I added.... if you do the same, you'll probably get them too!
