Ok attached is my green star polyp. It just refuses to extend all the way out. I tried moving it higher in the tank (more light) lower in the tank (less light) more flow and less flow and this seems to be all it wants to come out. tank parameters are 0/0/0 been for that way for 2 months now. (the tank paremeters) all my other corals are doing great even my frag of monti. just can't seem to figure this guy out. suggestions?

I have my green stars on the sand bed with a moderate alternating current. Too high or in a stagnant area and they don't extend.

I have some white star polyps that won't extend at all anywhere I've tried to put them though.

i will try some more areas in my tank maybe find that "sweet pot" right now they are in a high current area and seem to come out a little more than before. but not much maybe i will try closer to the over flow area and return area where i get some nice random current action.

How long are you allowing them to adjust to the "new" locations? They may simply be contracted due to all the comotion involved with relocation. I have found that patience is a virtue. Move them to a spot you think is good. Unless they look unhealthy and are dying, let them be. They'll come out eventually. Sometimes mine will retract for a few days, only to come out later as if nothing was ever wrong.

i had them in there original position mid tank for 2 weeks then on the sand bed for a week, not in the new location (where the pic was taken) for 2 days. they never really seem to extend all the way. just the heads come out. they seem healthy just not as far out as in the LFS.

I've been having the same problem, but having them in a moderate current has helped a bit. Some are extended like crazy but for the most part some heads haven't even rose up yet.

GSP love a high flow environment; once they adjust (which can take forever it seems) they will eventually extend and grow and grow....

if you need more just ask, they spread like weeds
