Ok i know its early to post this well way early but figured something people can think about. Since I am active duty I get stationed here and there every few years. Well come 2012 i will be leaving this area and on to somewhere new. I will be posting then for those that want coral/liverock/live stock. All of this will be FREE. all you will have to do is come get it or we can meet somewhere. I don't want to kill anything at all do to transfer, and i don't like taking it to a LFS that won't give credit etc. just to have it resold. so just a FYI in about 2 yrs i will be ridding of my stuff to yet start again at another location. can't wait to settle down for good and have a FISH ROOM.

God I won't miss those two year PCS'es.

This was my last one and I do plan on retiring here in 2012... or whenever the military plans on trying to move me.

You can put me in your list, but one service member to another, I can probably house your LR and livestock until you settle into your new location and then ship them out to you (too bad you can't pick up the shipping cost as part of a Partial DITY). Providing you stay CONUS that is. I guess you have a few years to think about it.

Never thought about going DITY on it cause they do go by weight problem being is the live stock but live rock will be fine i would have to just re-cycle it. But yeah when the time comes i will throw everything up for grabs to help everybody here that wants it. Rather help fellow MAASTARDS (no offense to those here that own stores) than give it all back to a LFS to sale.

This is the kind of thing I love to see here. One person helping out others. Anything you ever need, feel free to ask. It would be an honor to help you out.

Well thank you but hey MAAST has helped out so many including me just with info ideas etc. and i hate to kill things i have raised and grown etc. So to pass it on is no biggie to me at all. When i left guam i did the same thing i was really surprised by how many kept tanks in guam saying the island is only 30miles long. but then again your surrounded by reef and beautyful oceans and wildlife.

Great thing to do. How many years you have now? This was my final stop and I was from here anyway so it was natural that I just stay. Not to mention out of my 20 I spent 13 here at one of the bases.

My brother was in the Azores for about three to four years and loved it. He'd just tote water back to his house to do water changes. Then for fish just go out snorkeling as there weren't too many pet stores there dealing with salt water fish/critters.

Ahhhhh, over the hump. I debated very hard to get out at the 12 year mark but decided against and raised my hand again. Glad I did now and didn't regret any of it.

My over the hump year was number 10... kept on meeting old timers that said the same thing like "man, wish I had stayed in I would retire next year" or "if i'd stayed in I would have retired 15 years ago". Living with regret is a realy pain. Now I can say "Wow, I retire in three years! Where'd the time go?"

One of the guys I work with now (was my boss in Korea, now retired) got me interested in salt water by telling me how he ran a tank while in HI. Same thing as the Azores (brother was stationed there), would do his water changes with natural water and stock from the beach.
