View Full Version : How to revive a dead K4?

I've got a Koralia 4 that has stopped running. It just had a full vinegar bath and cleaning about a week ago, so I know it's not gummed up. When it's plugged in, I'm not even getting the hum you hear and feel when the impeller is stuck. I've tried it in another outlet to confirm that it's not a bad socket in my power strip. Anybody have any ideas as to how to get it working again, or do I just scavenge it for spare parts at this point? I bought it gently used about a year ago.

Thanks!
Derry

That has happened to me before with a K1. I just plugged it in and nudged the impeller with the eraser side of a pencil and it kicked in.

If the impeller is simply stuck, you'll still get a hum from the motor when you plug it in. I'm used to occasionally freeing a stuck impeller, but this is different. There doesn't seem to to be any response from the motor when you plug it in.

if the motor or coil is shot then scavange which is what it sounds like to me. I would check for any breaks or leaks were water could have intruded into it. but if its not a stuck impeller scavage.

Id get it out of the tank asap, its most likely leaking voltage into the water..... Ill take the magnetic holder if you decide to trash the pump...

I've left it unplugged since I discovered the problem in order to avoid any voltage leaks. 'Preciate the warning, though!
