Make absolutly sure to choose the bird carefuly. Clear, round eyes, pleasent disposition, handlable. Its always best to get a baby just about to wean. Ive had my two Amazons for 25 years and getting them as babies makes all the difference. This is one animal you do not want to b uy on impulse... Make sure to do your homework. Thes guys can live a very long time so making the right choice is very important. Never buy from a flea market or anyone who doesnt have proper credentials... I can recommend this place...

Try a place called Kifaru Exotic Animal Auction
(512) 556-8251
10831 N Highway 183, Lampasas, TX 76550

Their next bird auction is Sunday June 28th at 10am. They have just about every type of bird you can think of. They also have time set aside during the auction for babies (hand fed). You can see all of the birds before the auction and talk with the breeders that are selling their babies as well. They always have Macaws and other large birds. If a bird looks the slightest bit ill, they will either remove it from the auction or tell the audience about it. Breeders from all around bring their birds. We always enjoy it. You can expect to save around 40-70% from store prices depending on the type of bird. They also auction cages (big and small). The day before, they auction exotic 4 leg animals from giraffes, camels, exotic deer, monkeys, zebras etc. It always varies. Anyway, thought I would mention it.

If I'm not mistaking Gary at aquadome has some macaws. Not sure if he breeds them for sale though. Might want to hit him up for some info.

Check out T&D Aviary ...

I know Terry and he's a good guy. They are local and you could probably stop by and see who you are buying from ...
