here is a still pic of the Sun coming almost straight down the tube.. you can just makeout the outline of the tube on the sand bed,,, the rest of the day the sun is more evenly dispersed throughout the tank as the sun hits the tube at different angles,, I LOVE IT!
The areas that look to be in shadow are lit by almost 500 watts of geissman 10k and actinic plus T5s

Nice tank! I love the skylight! Very good idea. I didn't even think of that. That'd help with energy cost and you don't have to mess with timers.

Very nice setup. The natural light looks good. I would think the shimmer is better than MH. I only have T5. I might be crazy enough to put holes in my roof but my wife is not crazy enough to let me. I like your choice of fish.
