I need to get two replacement 96W CF bulbs. They both need to be 4 straight pins. I also have two 150W 10k MH bulbs. Total watts 2x150W + 2x96W= 492W.

I was thinking about getting actinic bulbs and have found 3 that seem to be reasonably priced. They are made by Current USA $32, Blue Life USA $32, SunPac $39, and Coralife $44. I don't how to rank these. Any adivse is welcomed, if you have used any of these atinics please let me know what you thought.

I saw this thread early today, and maybe I'm just missing something, but sanjay's writing deals mainly with MH doesn't it? If I am missing something, please point it out to me. The only CF part seems to be a DIY section. The DIY section only talks about Panasonic bulbs.

Ah...thanks. I just got new MH about 3 weeks ago, but this will def come in handy when I get replacements.

Anyone have thoughts on the Compact Florescent lights?

Current is 460nm which means you get a blue color, Blue Life and Sun Paq? Coral Life is 420nm or true actinic.

I bought replacment CF's the 96w from petmeister.com so another place you can check. i got 2 replacements each for my sqaure pin (they also have straight pin) for 50 with shipping i think. they work great on my salt and fresh water tank. just some food for thought for pricing, etc. if you don't go that route i would match the light with the hood. for example current with current etc. just my .02

current makes sunpaq, and they also make a 420/460 Dual Actinic which is the blue and pink(purplish) bulb
