i have never paired clowns before i am new to this so it may sound stupid but i have a Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish and would like to buy an ocellaris clown (the orange one) and see if they pair. does it matter that they they are not the same? will they pair? or should i just buy another Black & White Ocellaris Clownfish?

Yes they will pair, they are both ocellaris you know. Even a percula and an ocellaris will pair. You just have to make sure one is larger than the other. If they are the same size they'll fight.

They will pair. The black colors and Picaso's are color variations of the same fish. They are still the same fish and will pair.

Actually, it is better to say it like so......it is a POSSIBILITY they will pair being the same species, however, no gaurantees, one fish may not like the other......but theorhetically, yes,...it is possible

Our orange/black white clowns paired and laid eggs here recently. Take a look at my wife's thread here:

exactly, i had two that were pretty much together from babies and one day, 4 years later the onyx decided to bully the other. ended up killing him, after more than 4 years together.

They'll be fine. Just make sure that the new one is smaller than the one in your tank. If you get a bigger one there can be some turmoil.

Me too...in fact, I had a breeding pair of blk/wht's for 6 yrs...and a pair of orange/wht's. The male blk/wht kept "flirting" with one of the oranges...he then killed his blk/wht partner (OMG she was beautiful too!) then the two adulter's (ha) then killed the oranges partner and moved into the hosted colt that the blk/wht's had shared...and they are still together. Funny the male blk/wht has remained the male of the two.... and they look like they are trying to spawn....

be careful some time clowns already in the tank might declare dominance and kill any new clown coming into the tank. I had a friend who had a pair of oc. clowns and one died, then he went and bought another one, so he could have a pair again. The old clown killed the new clown later that day, ever since then he only had a single clown. Good luck
