i only have a 24 gallon nano cube and do not have enough space for a below tank sump/fug and chiller. does anyone have any ideas on how to have the water running up in to the attic directly above the tank into the sump and chill then back down in to the tank? in my head it is not that hard but i dont know. if anyone thinks that is is impossible or just plain stupid let me know now before i spend the money on parts. o yeah and the chiller i have makes my room super hot that is another thing i could get rid of some of that heat. one more thing is that i do not have predrilled holes for sump/rug ect so i am limited on that.

o and i am in the market for a new protien skimmer the one i have is now functioning properly so if any one is selling one let me know
thanks,

You can certainly do that. HOWEVER, the attic is a very inhospitable place for a sump and a chiller. Chillers do NOT work well over about 95 degrees, and probably not at all in a typical summer attic. They have to exchange the heat they pull from your tank. Ideally, the lower the temperature of their environment, the better.

If you don't mind the run, you can run the piping for a remote sump/chiller through the attic. You would need to insulate the pipes. My chiller is outside, and that's how I ran mine.

If you place the sump up in the attic you will definitely need the chiller, the attic is the hottest place in the house. You could place a ten gallon tank next to the 24g tank and that would work just fine. They say that a chiller needs 25 sqft of room so it displaces the hot air. I would just drill a hole in the wall and let the family deal with the heat.
