My home A/C went out in the middle of the night last night. What can I do to keep my tank cool? I already have fans going bags of ice in double zip lock bags (so they will not leak...hopefully). Anything else I can do till the company gets here? Thank you in advance for your help!

Frozen water bottles will last a little longer than ice in bags. Once they thaw, stick em back in the freezer.

Make sure the lights are off. It won't hurt anything to keep em off for a day or two.

Keep up with the evaporation cooling and make sure you have enough RO to top off with.

Dittos. No need for lights for a couple of days.

No light. Fan over the water will low temp by several degree easy. Good ventilation will help. Turn off some of the pump that are not essential (use air stone instead of skimmer pump). Borrow a chiller if needed. Depends on which coral and what temp you keep your reef, go up to 4-5 degree often still OK for the animals.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help. The A/C is now working. Darn capacitor blew.

Caps dont blow for any reason especially if it is mild outside as it is today I could understand if it was 90+ it would be putting a strain on the condensing unit, check your filters and have the condenser coils washed, better yet call someone for a A/C tune up.

This actually happened yesterday. I need to have someone come out anyway for a tune up. Thanks for the info!
