i am wanting to setup a fowlr tank in the office with a bursa and a humu. does anyone think they will kill each other or would they be okay together. if i get a go ahead, i will be purchasing them together as juvi's so i can watch them grow. i am also looking at getting some seagrass to cover the bottom and a little totoka rock. i want it to have a light, 'caribbean' feel.

so can they co-habitate?

ive had multiple triggers in a tank with no problems before, and probably more like 5-6different tank setups and never a problem, they just grow to fast...

The bigger they get, the nastier they become. I had a large Huma that wouldnt allow anything else in the tank, including snails, crabs and shrimp. He's now in a large preditor tank.

ok good to know. about how long under normal standard conditions would it take to grow from 1-2" to full size.

How big of a tank were you looking at? Depends on the fish I think. I agree with Jim, chances of them fighting increase with age. the FOWLR forum on RC has some real trigger experts, might ask one them.

In the 90's I had a Trigger tank, 6" Queen, 6" Clown, 4" Niger, Huma, Pink Tail, and the Dreaded Undulated. Everyone played nice except the undulated and he was very small. The big issue was water changes, hair algae, and Nitrates (80). If I did it again I would have a lot of Xenia, GSP, Frogspawn, phosban reactor, and a super large fuge with a bunch of chaeto to control phosphates and nitrates. Also starting with juvies would be recommended.

I think you would be ok as long as you started with them all the same size and put them in at the same time.

thanks for all the info. i wanted an undulated because it is a stunner, great colors, but i heard they were quite aggresive. so nix that one. i think i will stick with the humu and the bursa, they are beautiful and i will be buying lil' juvies, so i guess they will be fine.

and because it is in my office, i can't put a sump/fuge. so i will be using a cpr bakpak skimmer/fuge. would that be ok?
