What do you look for in a refugium light? What are you currently using for yours and how is it working for you?

I have a fuge on the back of my nano tank but the bulb seems to run really hot and adds to evaporation. I also want to setup a fuge for a 75 gallon and want to see what people like.

I use a 75 watt 6500k compact florescent in a clip on light from lowes. 3 of us down here in the Valley that I know of use the same set up and the cheato is growing like crazy in each system.

I think it cost 12.99 or something. It is inexpensive.

I'm using a indoor/outdoor daylight compact flourescent bulb. Uses only 16 watts but equivalent to 65, and has really long life; 5000k. Great results with growth and runs really cool, as in it can be on for days and i could still hold my hand on the bulb without getting burned! It was $8 at homedepot.

12" 10k fluorescent and 75w grow bulb from walmart. I don't think I need the fluorescent but its good for visual appeal. I don't like how yellow the sump looks with the grow bulb only. My sump chaeto regularly outgrows its 12"X12X14"" space better than the stuff I put in my main display for the mandarin (indirect light under a 14k 250w).

I used to have a 65W 6700k compact fluorescent fixture but now I have a clip on screw in type compact fluorescent bulb. As far as growing my macro it works the same in my opinion.

100 watt (I think) CF bulb from HD in one of those clip on things with the reflector. I think the K rating was around 6000. Total cost was maybe $15.
