:nailbiting:Need your help, How do I know if my fish have ick? We bought a fish who had some spots and didnt look very well about two weeks ago. So we were able to take him back however since then my fish started to develop the same spots. Today I had a fish who appeared to be fine yesterday and myteriously died today, he had white spots on him and now we noticed that another fish of ours appears to have some spots to. I dont want to miss diagnose but im worried. I dont know how to get rid of them. I did read the thread on Ick but dont know how to go about this. Do I quarintine all of my fish? Since I was almost ready to do the big move should I just move corals and live rock? and use exsiting tank for a quarintine? Help!!!!!!Please

if there ever was a good time to have your fish get ich, this is it. you can do exactly that, set up the new tank and move the corals and most of the rock over and keep the old tank running as a qt tank. i would reccomend hyposalinity as a less agressive treatment in qt.

Hyposalinity as Ace mentioned and also, raise your temp to 84/85 to reduce O2 termporarily. Garlic sometimes helps....

Ahh, Ace, Thanks for the awesome advice, I guess I should have even the sand removed right,Just go bare bottom. How long do I keep them there?4-8 weeks.
The corals and rock will they transfer the ick to the new tank?

If you take the sand out, you will need to watch for spikes in the nitrate cycle.
