MP40W or MP20

Getting ready to order my Vortech today and wanted any thoughts from owners and what I should get. My tank is a 59 gallon 36x18x20ish as for dimensions. I also know I can upgrade the 20 to the 40W for about $140 shipped if I want to upgrade later, but it's $110 for the difference now.

I'd get the MP40w. 370 is a great price for a new unit. I paid 420!

Yep, get the MP40, you can always dial it back,, I paid almost $450 for mine

I have heard the mp 20 is not very powerful I am sure you will be very pleased with the mp 40

It really depends on what you're keeping in your tank. I have both an mp20 and an mp40 and I would say that the mp20 would be plenty for just softies and lps. If you're keeping SPS on the other hand, get the mp40 and don't look back.

the mp40w!!! local reefer just got one and loves his. his tank is a 65g with one vortech, mine is a 75g with two vortechs

OK, well although I totally agreed with all of you my wife didn't. She said since I'm not keeping SPS and only a 36x18x20 tank the MP20 should be plenty. Of course she also understood it would cost an additional $30 to upgrade later than the extra $110 now but at least she was then sold on the idea. Pump should be here by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

Like a kid at Christmas now waiting for Santa to get here. Of course this is going to be the last piece of equipment I'll need on the tank for a while now (at least that's what I told her and it should be).:wink_smile:

Loving it. The polyp extension on my LPS has been amazing since adding it. I noticed it the next morning and even more as the days went on. Even having some extension from my Acans during the day with lights on which I never saw before. Corals have all really looked much better, maybe just the way the flow is in the tank now compared.

friend said he noticed corals being happier once adding the mp40w. i love mine and would never think about anything else again
