Agrocrete

I'm interested in attempting to make some agrocrete. I've considered making:
frag plugs,
rock to cover overflow and/or back,
rock to cover pvc pipe or ceramic rod,
some type of tall pillar or arch for sps,
caves for fish,
etc.

There is a lot of info on GARF and RC, but I was wondering what experience some local hobbyists have had. Any advice?

Jack not a lot of people attempt this because it actually take more time to cure than live rock. Also, there are some many different ideas of how to make it porous that it gives me a headache...

Not since phenominal aquatics started selling rock at 2.99 pound has anyone in SA been interested in home made rock.

If someone has artistic ability to make shapes other than boulders, this stuff can is very pretty.

It is pretty easy to make and if you have the right mixture down (with a good internal frame work), you can make some neat pieces. It's super cheap and easy too, so if you have the time to let it soak properly, go for it.

I tried it once to make some base rock for a 150g I was planning on using. Most of it was just flat pieces but I was going to cover it with live rock anyways. I ended up donating it Ace's classroom project a few years back. I wonder if it's still in use there and how it looks today?? **hint hint**

I've done quite a bit of it with less than stealler results.

Things to know.

Don't use salt.
Expect not to be able to use the pieces for 3 to 6 months.
If your not a DIY kinda guy, stick with cheap live rock.
