Wanted to document my warranty repair w/them. Don't know how it will end, so we'll see.

Here's the skinny:
I bought a 1/4hp arctica unit on 9/26/08. Noticed in March that unit ran all the time just to keep tank temp @ 80F. Cleaned coils, flushed heat exchanger, and verified unit room temp was below 95F (in fact max room temp was 86F). Problem got worse and came home one day to find tank temp at 83F!

1) Sent email to jbj warranty on 3/27/09. No response.
2) Called JBJ on 4/22, was told I needed to complete warranty claim form and provide copy of receipt to get warranty claim #. Emailed forms back same day.
3) After no reponse, called again 4/27 to verify info received. Was told I would get response by end of week.
4) Called them 5/1 @ 455pm pacific time to see what hold up was. Finally got a warranty return # over the phone.

I'm sending the unit via ups tomorrow. After a rough start, I can only hope the rest of this process goes well. The ball's in JBJ's court, so it's up to them to give this thread a happy ending.

Just a quick update. Because of a hectic schedule and the boxing/shipping costs (almost $75), I just sent the unit to JBJ today. So, we'll see what happens.

After last weeks 1 hour meeting with the owners of JBJ, I will follow this thread to see how well they take care of you. I just started carrying their products and hope that their customer service takes care of you. Once all the facts are in and what the outcome of this issue is, it will either make or break my decision to continue to carry their product line.

I set up a 28 JBJ cube about a month ago for a friend here.....we have had issues with the 4 fan cooling system, he was able to reach them and speak with a rep....i believe he said they were not much help....only trying to upsell instead of listening to his issues....Ill see if I can get the number he called for you........other than the fan issue....this tank is really nice....but will need a chiller, or sea fan (which is what we are trying now on it, and it seems to work well so far) to compensate for the weak cooling system and closed lid....lesson learned on this one....MH=no closed canopy, at least for me.....good luck in your endeavors..it may take a day or so to get that # he used.....he has a busy weekend ahead him

so...have new issues with JBJ....i went to hook up my buddies protein skimmer that came with the tank today.....well, JBJ made the dang thing too big....the skimmer fits but when i place the collection cup on it i have to wedge in down into the designated area.....the hinge for the top and the cartridge that holds the mechanical and biological filtration are in the way....and the you cant open the top with in it place....we will be contacting them again to address our displeasure with certain features they offer.......I am sure they wont offer much help...but it is good to let them know about it.....ill be putting an oceanic biocube protein skimmer in his for now and using is in one of my larger systems.......good luck again with your endeavors with JBJ...

Didn't really start this to bad mouth JBJ. I really like the chiller. It's quieter and runs less than my previous Current chiller.

I want to give them a fair shake in this, so I've forwarded our web address to them, to allow them to respond. They've been nice and helpful on the phone, it's just been a pain to get them to follow through with what they say they're going to do. That's my only complaint so far.

Anyways, I'll keep updating as soon as something new arises.

Received a call yesterday that unit is under warranty and a new chiller was sent on Friday. So, should be here in next few days. I'll update if further problems are encountered.

Impressions? Eeeh, ok. Could have been a better experience, but I've seen a lot worse. At least they stood by their warranty.
