I started the Zeovit system yesterday and would like to know if there's anyone with experience using this system? I've been dosing vodka for a few months now to reduce nitrates/phosphates and worked. Now I'm looking for that "WOW" factor I didn't have with my previous tank. Any input would be nice on what to expect and what dosing regiment worked for you.

If you does a color supplement here or there and have had success I'd like to hear your story too.

Hey clint. I'll ask Rick (marlin) to jump in here. He is been using his for about half a year now. His corals look good. I might try some amino acids myself on the new 75g. Good luck with zeovit and looking forward to see the awesome colors. Take a lot of pics

Not that I know of Clint. I have been using additives, but have never gone all out Zeo.

I had some nice results when I was dosing Pohl's Xtra along with the KZ AAHC

I started up my 180 gal tank with Zeo about 4 months ago. It's really doing well. I'm using the KZ magnetic reactor. I'm dosing Zeo Bak, Start 2, Zeo Food, Pohls Xtra, amino acid concentrate, coral vitalizer, coral snow, potassium and Kaliumiodide-Flour. I am running about a liter of carbon and changing it monthly. I do 5% water change weekly with RO/DI water and Red Sea Coral Pro salt. I chaqnge the Zeolites every 6 weeks.
My corals have really colored up and have great growth.
The changes that result from using the Zeo system happen very slowly so a lot of patience is needed.
Using the Zeo system does require daily dosing and care so it's not for everyone.

i ran zeovit on my tank for a while. i did get some awesome colors, but i began having issues with the tank (unrelated to zeovit) and decided to take it a completely different route.

but the zeovit works great! the colors looked great even after 2 months or so. but it's a pricey set of additives. i think i had over $1000 invested and i didn't feel like replacing all those products that i used up so soon.

Isn't this kind of how corals grow? I'm not trying to be a smart a**, but it sounds like there is no difference.

Kyle, zeovit doesnt focus on growth, it focuses more on the colors of the corals. Being that parameters have to be optimal, yes it does help the growth as well. Corals in Rick's tank grow at a very fast rate.

Kyle
I meant the changes and improvements in the coral colors happens slowly. My corals are growing like crazy.

I use the Coral Vitalizer, Pohl's Extra, Iron Concentrate, Amino Acids, and Sponge Power and have been pleased with the results. Mostly, I have noticed imporved coloration and PE.

Clint:
What is the size of the tank you're running Zeo on? Which reactor are you using?

Thanks for all the replys guys.

Rick my tank volume is roughly 215 gallons including the sump. Honestly I don't know which reactor I'm going with, it's down to an auger style that holds 6L of media or a 2L that has the push/pull lever on the top. Right now I have about 1L of Zeolith in a mesh bag in my sump that I "kneed" twice a day. I started the full system last Wed. and dose Zeobak, Zeofood and Zeostart everyday. I also have most of the other Zeovit additives and dose those once to twice weekly.

I have the Zeospur2 but will wait until the first exchange of the zeolith before I dose that. Do you have experience with this product? I am quite amazed at how much gunk my skimmer is pulling out now. I remember being pleasantly surprised how much more my skimmer started pulling after I started dosing vodka but nothing compared to this. I'm cleaning the "neck turds" nightly from my Bubble King. I'll update this thread in a few weeks and might even post a picture or two for you Jerry.

Thanks again for all your input.

Clint:
I'm new to this also (only four months), but I read alot about it on the Zeovit forum before starting. I have a friend in Monterrey Mexico that started his 180 gal up on Zeo about 6 months before me. He has had great results and convinced me to go with it.
I am following the dosing schedule that Alexander (Zeovit forum moderator) gave me. So far, so good.
I have a Deltec AP701 skimmer and I get huge amounts of skimate. I have to be careful on the skimmer settings because I can easily fill the collection cup in an hour. I've overflowed it a couple of times.
I'm also getting great PE like never before in my other tanks. All of the SPS corals are fully open all day even with the 400 W MH's on.

Rick what about Zeospur2, have you used it?

I will probalby get flamed here but I will add my opinion anyway. To me this is like cheating. to me its kinda like two body builders. one does it the all natural way and it takes way longer, one bulks up on steroids and gets there quicker.. cant really tell which one used the steroids except that once got big unnaturally fast.
Like was mentioned,, not for everyone. I'm not gonna spend all that extra time and money when I can achieve the same results with a little time and good husbandry

To each his own Texreefer. One could say the same about lighting, you happen to use natural and others choose to use artificial. And by the way one would not accomplish the "Zeo" look without Zeo no matter how much time or "good husbandry" one practices. Having said that some people don't like the way corals look with Zeovit. I happen to be one that does.

I've got a bottle and are patiently waiting to do my initial dose. I figure I'll give it a shot two weeks into it, tomorrow marks one week.

Rick can you post any before and after pictures of your tank? I'd like to see where you started and where you are today. Thanks!

I don't think Zeo is cheating.. may be a little more science based without really having any evidence, but the results show otherwise. A lot of people can reach similar results with carbon dosing but it will vary in every tank. In the end it's what we can do to make the inhabitants stress free and healthy. I'm sure the fish enjoy a cleaner tank as well

If i had a big enough sump, I would incorporate the zeo method, but for now, Vodka will help me keep my nitrates at zero; phosphates is unknown since most hobby kits suck. I just judge by coral growth, etc...
