What kind of damsel? Most are quite bold. If it is a domino, 3-stripe, yes that is odd. Some of the others, like the blue varieties with yellow tails, may hide for a few days. There are so many damsels and they range from bold to timid, not knowing the variety makes it hard to say. Damsels are tough, you can go thru a tank cycle using damsels and they survive. I bet he will be OK.

I have 3 yellow tails that are pitbull psychopaths. I've had them since I first started saltwater and I tell you what......these 3 terrors are HARDY. I've had a few other fish die on me but not one of these three. A dip in battery acid would probably just p!$$ them off.
