My brother-in-law has one on his RSM and the colors are awesome.

While I know this doesn't directly answer your lighting question it is related because I purchased it for the purpose of the shimmer effect you get from MH.

NOTE: this fixture will not support your corals alone, it is meant to enhance your lighting system and corals.

Thanks, you pretty much got my question though. I am interested in supplying a high amount of light to grow coral without having to either stuff more T5s over my display or hanging a MH over the tank. This is in the event that I go to a deeper tank. Right now I'm at 18", about 15" to 4" from the surface is my current aquascaping.

if i had the money i would pick up an AI system to try it out. i wonder if they are really comparable to 400w MH systems

FYI...my hubby did some research, ordered things and will be building me an LED system with 36 lights (including a dimmer) for my Solana. I can keep everyone posted if you'd like. He probably won't get everything in until next week and may have to reorder the reflectors because he thinks he got the wrong ones. I found a thread for him that talked more about the reflectors, but he had ordered them already.
