Love the purple foot:) Why is it leaning over? Is the powerheads doing that to it?

I have a Vortech and a bunch of flow there. It has since moved behind the big rock but still looks great. in pulse mode the vortech creates a very nice back and forth motion in this area
The Pedal Disc of this thing is 12" across

Well, too early to get too excited but this Mag is showing excellent signs of good health,, its not moving, its staying fully inflated, has a nice tight mouth that stays shut. here are a couple more bad pics.. I need to get Ace or someone over with a camera and take some real pics so I have proof of how big this thing is.
this one shows the nice tight mouth
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o258/itili/DSC01939.jpg

this is about half of it. the other half is on the other side of the rock

Great looking Magnifica. I like the flow you have in that tank. What do you use for water movement in there? Surge tank?
Never mind, I read you previous post.
Gook luck with him

Just a couple more Pics today,, He has moved just a bit. I turned the flow down on my vortechs and he moved further down so i'm guessing they REALLY like that high flow

Looks like he may start heading down to your RBTA. I'd hate to see if kill that so just let me know if you need to get it out of your tank.

Only have your tanks best interest at heart.

Very nice anmone. They are hardy once establish, as long as they don't eat a lump of bad food (loaded with bacterial) so watch what you feed them. They can just catch fish food. Don't feed them anything you would not eat.

It looks like you have three clowns in the tank. Does the third one get beat up by the other two? When I had 3 clowns in my tank, the smallest one did not get to go into the anemone unless he sneak in at night or if I have my hand in the tank.

Texreefer
Mon, 20th Apr 2009, 12:27 PM
no, i moved the rock over to the left behind the little island so cliff couldn't find it. if you look real close you can just see the tips of the tenticals:bigsmile:

I bet this Magnifica is much bigger in person. Don't you just hate it when the camera can't seem to capture what our eyes see?

Does look much bigger than in the pic.. just wish it was good and healthy. has had a gaping mouth for about a week. still stays inflated and appearance is healthy looking, it is firmly attached and does not move, but i'm affraid it will eventually start to decline with the mouth the way it is:cry_smile:
We shall see
Mike

Good luck Mike. Just don't feed it until it is healthy. When it is not healthy, feeding do more harm than good. I tried to feed them when they are not well and without exception, they look worst after they eat.

40 days in your tank. It should be fine unless there is some mishap to your tank. Can you take a picture of the mouth before feeding. H. magnifica's mouth always a little more protrude than other anemones. It looks more like a female nipple rather than a small opening in other anemone species.

not to steal ur thread but mine is just as old no change either. got mine 30 mins after u. the mouth on mine looks more like a belly button than a nipple.

I don't directly feed it.. not while it has a gaping mouth.. I know the mouth should look like it does in the first pic i posted. but I has been the size of a silver dollar and open for about 3 weeks

Texreefer,
It is far enough from the glass right? If it is not, you are in for trouble. If it's tentacles can tough the glass, IME, it can walk on to the glass if it want to. I can't tell from your pictures.
Nice anemone. Keep up the good work.

Texreefer

Right now its far enough away but not if it keeps growing

OrionN
Mon, 22nd Jun 2009, 06:56 PM
If you don't want them to grow, just don't target feed them. They will be fine with bits of fish food and light. My H. magnifica under my care for 8-9 months and only grew from 6 inches to about 7 inches or so. I have him and a pair of Percula clown in a 30 g cube. All three are doing very well in this tank (with a Mandarin)
