Found a rusty nail inside a brand new media bottle when i was rinsing it.

Just a little bit of iron dosing ;)


It's always a good idea to sift through 'any' media before use.

You might drop a line to ARM to let them know about it. They might not be too concerned, but if I were them I would like to know.

So do ya'll always rince your media before using it? It says no rinsing required..

Yep, i don't want murky water get inside the display. The rusty nail given me more reason to rinse it now.

hmm, I havent been but I reckon I will from now on... Just put it in a bucket and run fresh water through it intil clear?

Never thought about nails.... I'm going to be more careful when I stick my hands in the container and scoop this stuff out.

Yes fresh RO water, til it's clear. I am using large pellets too ,not sure if you have to do the same w/ smaller media.

Where you getting the pellets from? BRS?

Sorry, when i said pellets , i meant large media from ARM. They do look like large pellets .Do you have a GEO reactor too? b/c large media is a recomendation for GEO'S.

No, Im using a giant reactor made by Matt Dunne, I use a smaller reactor for Phosban and quick carbon usage. Are the ARM pellets larger than the standard crushed material? Have a link?

LOL..just goolge it and found out it's the same one at BRS..Yes that the one, it' alot larger than the standard ones.
