During the frag demonstration at TMAC it was mentioned that you could use ceramic tile to attach your frags to. Anyone ever done this? I'm currently fragging some mushrooms and have lots of old ceramic tile lying around the garage...could I use that instead of buying rock/plugs?

I suggest going to HEB and picking up a small rubbermaid container and put a thin layer of coral rubble on the bottom. Place the mushroom frags inside and put some netting over the container to keep the frags from blowing away. Let the shrooms attach and then glue the new frags to a rock. Works good.

Take a drimel, and use it on the tile to remove the glaze off the tile. This will allow your glue/frag to set to the tile.

Anthony suggested that I stab the mushrooms with toothpicks into the sandbed so they will attach to the sand and then use that sand to attach to the tiles. Sound reasonable??

That'll work fine, too. The main exercise is to get the slippery little bugger to sit still long enough to attach to sand/rubble/etc.

let them flot in a tub and wait for them to attach and glue the rocks to that

You could drill a small hole in the center of the tile and super glue/epoxy a toothpick in the center of it.

I purchased some frags mounted on small square tiles. Mine are mounted on the rough bottom of the tile. They are heavy enough snails, crabs, & Blennies can not flip them. After a few days, I was able to easily pop the frag off to attach to my rock. Worked out great.

Oyster shell works great. You can break the shell into smaller pieces. Looks much more natural also

if you plan to use tiles, remember to soak the tiles in ro/di water and change it as often as possible. this will also whatever chemicals on the tiles to leach off and not contaminate your tank.
+1 for using a dremel to graze the surface. this will help for gluing/attaching frags.
