Got Crabs?

So I was peeking into my tank earlier and saw these red, beady eyes, had to be a reflection from the flashlight. Turns out it was a big ole crab of some kind. It had to be at least 2.5/3" accross. Pretty cool actually. Its pincers indicated that it probably feeds mostly on algae, flattened claw tips and not serrated and it didnt appear to be hairy, just BIG! This tanks been set up for almost eight years and this is the first time Ive got a good look at it.... Anyone else got crabs?

I got one in my sump now that I got a month ago in some cheato . Still waiting for mine to get bigger as it is only half inch at most. Hopefully it's a good hitchhiker!

Search for MITHRAX CRAB in IMAGES under yahoo and you will probably find your crab on the first pic. Either way, mithrax crabs are relative to the emerald crab. Unfortunately like all crabs, they are opportunistic and have been known to capture fish and eat them when the opportunity arrives.
