View Full Version : Reflectors on T5's

So, I was thinking of adding these 46" reflectors on my t5 bulbs. I have 4 bulbs, and they do not have any sort of reflection on them at all. How much will this boost my current lighting? I was told that the reflectors give 60% of your light. Will there be a visible difference in what I see as far as coral coloration in my SPS corals?

My next round of questions: Are these reflectors acquirable from any stores such as Home Depot or Lowes? I'd like to save some money by making them myself if it's possible.

Thanks,
Brooks.

Yes, the majority of the light you get from t5's are due to the reflectors. I have never seen them available at any home store. I will have some 4' tek reflectors for sale soon. I am switching to the icecaps. Keep an eye out on the for sale forum.

The reflectors increase the light 10-fold. You will be amazed at the difference. And no they do not sell them in Lowe's or HD but can get them from one of our Sponsors...Coralreefbazaar and if you can make it to TMAC this Sat, he will be there and having a big sale on them.

Oooh alright... Well, I never knew I lost SO much light without having them. Thanks! Unfortunately, I can't make it to TMAC. :(

You can also get them at reefgeek. I strongly reccomend the IceCap SLR reflectors, those are what i am currently using for my system. Great reflectors
