Hello to everyone in MAAST. I was an active member almost 3 years ago, but I was called back into the military. I'm currently at Ft Bragg, NC and decided to get back into the hobby. I decided to stay on this forum because San Antonio is home for me and when I first got into the hobby it was the MAAST members like, Ace, who helped me out with any issues I came across. Well members here is my new tank. I picked it up in Raleigh at a place called Aquatica (www.aquatica-nc.com). These guys are great and have an amazing store. I picked up the tank and stand, along with 40lbs of live rock, 40lbs of live sand, and a Sundial HQI, and 30g's of saltwater for $1100.00. Oh yea, and 20 snails and 20 hermits and 3 starter fish. Anyways, its only been up and running for one day now, but here is some pics.

Great looking tank and I love the rock work.

I'm a little scared about the whole 1 day thing though. Can you give more details on this statement? Did you just add everything in one day? Maybe I mis-read your post.

It's a nice tank and welcome back to MAAST.

Yes, I just added everything on the first day. The fish are to help the cycle run its course. If they die they die.

nice to see you posting again jeremy....

i have to agree with rob on this one tho. you dont need fish or snails to get your tank to cycle, and the attitude about them dieing being insignificant is pretty callous. you really should remove the fish and snails and take them back to the fish store.

Also I have the HQI about 10 inches above the tank. Is that good enough?

Thats what I said to them to! But the owner of the store said that the snails and hermits should be ok, but I mad a "What the hell" face to him about that comment. He then told me that all his tanks were cycled the same way. And thanks Ace. Your always a great help.

I always take the LFS's suggestions with a gran of salt. Most are business men/women who try to sell their product.

Don't sacrafice the animals on their account!! Live rock cycles itself.

Welcome back.

Nice start... I can totally picture a yellow watchman goby coming out of the cave up front, and his color would really pop against that black sand.

By the way, thanks for your military service. Appreciate the sacrifices you make.
