Today while doing my water change, I moved a rock to put some sand under it. I found the following critter hanging out underneath the rock:

It didn't do dishes, but it did dance to the tune of my garbage disposer. Big bristle worms creep me out. Yuck. I don't mind the small ones.

At that size, and with that color, it's possible it's a fire worm... probably good that you 'disposed' of it.

Without very clear pictures (especially of the mouth) it's generally impossible to tell bristle (Nereidae) and fire (Amphinomidae) worms apart. But for a very simple rule of thumb, the bristle worms often have less densely clustered bristles and do not grow as large as the fire worms. Once they get to be about 6" or more, I consider them to be too much of a risk, and generally yank them out just to be safe.
Here's a fire worm I caught a couple of years ago.
It was a very active (and successful) snail predator.
