found some comments on another board...

So I went home and thought I would call OldCastle in PA. I did. What I was told is that their supplier from the Carribean is no longer in business, thus they no longer distribute a "silica free sand"http://www.reefland.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif . The Kolorscape and Durascape are both the same (she said), simply distributed through different channels. Both bags claim to contain silica.....

...I bought some of that stuff for my kids sandbox this year. I thought it was going to be "soft" like the southdown was... IT'S NOT! Nasty stuff actually. It leaves a white residue on everything, kinda like a concrete dust. My wife "accused" me of buying concrete sand... It is also very COARSE and rough on the hands, not something I would want a goby passing thru his gills that's for sure. If it is true there no longer is a distributor for the good stuff, then you will just have to go with the $30 a bag stuff.

Bummer, I was reading that someone found the silica-free aragonite bags at a Home Depot. Maybe it was an old thread....

There seems to have been a lot of old threads bing brought up recently.

How much are you looking for? (Not an open invitation for queries)
