calcium reactor leaking

My reactor is leaking around the top. It is just some drips. I have screwed the top on, but it is still leaking.
Should I treat the rubber seals with something to help with the leaking.

I would take the top off and wipe it down. There may be something under the seal that you can't see causing the leak. What kind of reactor is it?

Clean the gasket w/soap and water. You can also spread a little dab of vasoline around the lip and then reseal it.

Please don't use vaseline. It may attack the seal.

Don, clean the seals and surfaces. Use the silicone plumber's seal.

These are designed to be screwed down snuggly, NOT tightly. If you used a screwdriver, it's likely WAY too tight and it's possible to crack the acrylic. The screws must be adjusted evenly - or it will definately leak. Remember, this is a VERY low pressure system.

Whoops, sorry for the misinfo. I had received a little packet of stuff with my korraline to seal the top and thought it was vasoline. Didn't realize it was silicone.

Still, like the other poster said, there's probably something in the lip that's causing the gap. Even the smallest granule can cause a gap that leaks water.

how badly is it leaking?

minor leaks (and i mean very small) will usually go away in a few days when salt creep starts to add up.
