Each Presenter is asked to give a small bio of their tank.
We are planning to take Pictures and post in the Forum of the Tank Tour, if you wish for pictures not to be taken in your home, please pm me with this information. If each of you would PM me your Phone Number, and if there is a Gate Code, I would really appreciate it. I will not post addresses/phone numbers in respect of the Tank Tour Volunteer.
If you own a pet, we ask that each Volunteer add this to the thread, so that everyone will be aware, in case of allergies or other concerns.

MAAST will be providing Pizza for lunch, and will also have an igloo with water/sodas.

I would like to take this time to express thanks to all who have volunteered their tanks for us to enjoy.

Please reply to this thread if you are going to be on the "Observation Team."
If expressed interest in driving and own a Multi-Passenger vehicle, please reply also. All who plan on the "Observation team," must reply no later than Thursday, 9PM.

i just want everyone to know that this stinks... We made plans several months ago to go to Colorado and visit our daughter (and go skiing...), so we will both miss the tour, and miss being ON the tour!

Hi Cheri,

I PM'd my info as requested, and had some thoughts/questions. Some of these you have probably already thought of but I thought I would throw them out.

1)- Do we have some idea on how many people will be touring? Just a rough idea of a head count how many people we will have invading our homes. :) If we carpool, do we have an idea how many cars it will be? Will parking at any of the viewing places be an issue? I was just thinking if any of these are apartments, parking might be an issue. I would imagine in most neighborhoods, we will just line the streets with our aquarium posse.
2)- How would people feel about name tags for everyone? I am terrible with remembering names and it might help some members feel more comfortable approaching and talking to other people. Maybe put both their MAAST name and real name on them.
3)- I am assuming others who are showing are meeting to go view also. When it is our turn next, will everyone be following us home? Should we be leaving a few minutes before to arrive 1st? I have dogs that I will be putting away in our bedroom before people arrive is why I ask. Which brings me to my next point.
4)- Pets. I will be putting our dogs away for safety sake, which I am sure probably goes without saying but I am bringing it up anyway. Our dogs are not hostile or aggressive, but one was abused and so has an issue with meeting strangers. I also figure some people are scared of dogs. We also have 3 cats. Is that likely to be an issue for anyone? It sounds stupid, but some people are really allergic which is why I bring it up.
5)- What kind of info do you think we need for the tank bios? I would be interested to see what people feed their tanks, dose their tanks with, r/o set ups and stuff. It might be interesting to see what kind of info other people are interested in.

Those were my questions and thoughts.
Looking forward to viewing and showing our tanks.

Thanks again to MAAST and Cheri for cooridnating the event. Kristy is really sorry she is going to miss it and looking forward to photos documenting the day and everyones tanks. She will be with us in spirit, in the good not morbid way. :)

-Mike (& Kristy)

Is the tank tour for Maastards only? Technically my wife is not a member, but she does go with me to meetings. I also have a friend that is interested in starting a tank, and I think this would be a great way to inspire him.

Is this the address for the meeting spot?

Will there be a contact person if someone gets lost or delayed? :blushing:

Mike, I will try to answer as best as I can...
1. I will have a more accurate head count Friday AM and will post, as well as cars. I am going to re-drive the route myself, to ensure of parking concerns, etc.
There are no apartment buildings on the list.
2. I have already purchased Name Tags, (great minds think alike)
3. I don't see whether it would be a problem, in following, (that was my original plan,) but if the Volunteer would like to leave early, that will be their own preference.
4. I can add to the post, for those of us, who have other animals, should post for precautionary/health concerns. (Thanks for remembering that!)
5. Bios of tanks-I thought it would be nice for the owner to state maybe the size, when the tank was started, whatever may interest them about their tank. (Nothing formal) We have a lot of new hobbyists on the site, and hopefully they will join the tour, and learn from what everyone shares.

I will not be able to go on the tour because I'll be watching my daughter at that point but am glad to have everyone look at what I have. Please excuse the puppy smell that I'm sure has now attached to everything in the house as I have four 5 week old pups in the kitchen.

Sounds like fun and I know Steve has my number but I think it's an old one (still have just don't use), so I'll send the one easiest to reach me on.

Well we have a 90gal. show and welcome all the advise in the world. It had been cycling a year before we added fish. We added our first fish about 3 months ago.
We will be upgrading really soon(YEAH) !! We do have two German Shepherds by the way. They are outdoor dogs the biggest babies ever. But we'll make sure there tied up.

Hey,

I've got two dogs outside. They come in sometimes, so there may be some dander. One cat might wander through.

We'll probably have about four people touring, give or take two. I can haul eight in a mini-van.

What an inspiration it was to view all the tanks. I don't know about anyone else, but I left with a lot of takeaways to implement. Everyones' tank was awesome.
In my opinion, it was great just to "hang out," meet new faces, and have fun.
I hope everyone had as much fun as I did.
Thanks to all who volunteered to show their tanks, and also for the "observation team" who weathered the cold, the wind and a SA road trip to remember.

I will say this...If you missed this, you missed one of the best days of MAAST. It was so great to see the diversity that MAAST has to offer. We viewed tanks for beginning stages to tanks years in existence. Every tank was an inspiration to all and each owner should be proud. We all gain comradery and mutual respect for each other, along with many new ideas. Jose's "mini" 600g lagoon inspired my wife to want to up-grade. There was so many things different to each system that no one walked away not thinking to themselves..."Maybe I can do...". I'm glad that you guys and gals got to see mine...still in the works but it inspired Carter to want a taller stand...I promise that you will love it.

Thanks so much to All the put their tanks in the Tour and thanks to All who participated in the "Observation Team". It was extremely long day but well worth it. Please everyone keep up the good work.

And coming soon...the Austin tour.

:applause:My hats of to Cheri for putting the whole event together and making sure it ran smoothly, also to the people who opened their homes to everyone to view their tanks and their homes. It was a long and awesome day that we enjoyed, it was nice to see the different types of setups, everyone had from big to small, very advanced to very basic. Good job to everyone!!! Anyone who missed this one needs to make sure if it happens again to try to make the next one. Thanks again to everyone involved, and hope to see ya'll soon

I'd like to add my thanks to all those who opened their homes and Cheri for orgainizing the event. I only got to see two systems before getting back to moving my daughter but both were inspirational, from Texreefer's outstanding system to the second setup (forgot the name, sorry) where he designed his own bucket system filtration device.

On the bright side my wife has authorized me to begin the long term planning process to build an in the wall system and has willingly given me a large portion of the pantry which is on the other side of the wall in question. I will probably be asking a lot of questions in the future about plumbing (dos and don'ts), I hope that you all don't mind. ;-)

Thanks again for letting us be a part of the group and I hope that next time I can volunteer my tank for viewing.
