Well if the water line stays below the mounting hole when the float is engaged, then you have nothing to worry about.

I'm not using that exact one. I've used both the Kent and Coralife on my sumps for about four years now for my auto topoff without a problem. Well a problem one time but that was my fault. I accidentally left the cable to one of my pumps lay on top of it after cleaning. Went out next morning and sump was almost overflowing in the garage. Other than that no problems with them ever, and I prefer them to electrical ones that seem to always end up failing at some point or another.

i bought the Kent float valve from a fellow reefer and i think i got it setup correctly. I just have to buy 1 more and do the same thing with another brute trash can ive got. im still trying to get the hang of how everything works
do i have to flush the membrane after each time it stops the ro/di unit? i notice theres a jump from 7ppm TDS to 49ppm when i push the valve open again, thats the RO water, DI jumped from 0 to 1-3ppm

or maybe just turn the bypass valve to RO until it goes back down and then bypass again to make DI water so i dont exhaust the resin so fast

You really only need to flush the membrane maybe once a week to get a little extended life on it. Not sure what you meant on the second post but I'd make sure you are going through the RO before the DI so your DI resin doesn't get used up so quick.
This made me remember I really need to clean out my resin. Thanks.

I've used the float valve we sell in my sump for years (6 to 8?) on our 300 gal system. No problems to date...
