Putting the bulkheads on a tank, and for the life of me I cannot find the answer anywhere.

I know it goes on the inside of the tank. I have a slow leak coming out of one of them and I took it off. But I can't remember what side goes against the glass:

The smooth side or the side with the two grooves in it.

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks

The smooth side goes on the glass. Inside the tank of course.

Some people put a slight film of silicone on both sides of the gasket too. I mean very little... HTH

Dayum....just when i thought I had the mystery solved. This is what I saw on Saltwaterfish.com:

Just to let you know, the gasket has two rings on one side of it and none on the other side. You should put the flat side facing the lip and the two rings facing the glass of the aquarium. The two rings create a much, much better seal then the flat side.

I had it installed the way you said, but can't remember how the other 5 were installed. I just opened the bags up and put them on the tank. I'll have to try again in the morning.

Thanks for the response.

That statement is false. Have you ever stuck a smooth flat piece of rubber on glass before. It will stay stuck to the glass almost forever. The air pockets will break the seal. You might also check to make sure that the bulkhead isn't cracked. It happens.

Toe May Toe - Toe Ma Toe... The rubber should seal it either way.

Thanks for the help David. Will get it taken care of tomorrow, and if all else fails, a quick stop to the LFS for a new bulkhead. Lucky for me, it is the beginning of a tank build, so it's not a big deal at this point. Have a good night.
