I have a yellow belly blue tang.

It has been eating well, swimming nicely, ect....

Just 30 minutes ago it started to go to the surface gulp some air, then swim quickly to the other side of the tank while releasing bubles through its gills.

It just ate about 45 minutes ago...all appears normal beside the gulping air...

That is one cool and rare fish, i used to have one. Anyway my naso tang does that daily, i don't know why, but he is one healthy fish. Is this the first time you notice it?

Yes it is teh first time I noticed it....It almost seemed like he was playing...He somtimes will take a shell in his moutn, race to the other end of the tank and drop it, pick it up again and race to teh other end. This was something like that only with bubbles...he did it over and over again, but has not stopped.

How big did your Yellow belly blue tang get? how long until the belly was distictive?

i bought mine as an adult already, so the yellow belly was always there. I think your fish is fine.

My blue hippo used to do it all the time. Right after eating.

My scribbles rabbit fish has done that every since we got him. We have had him for over 6 months.
