Found this critter from the underside of my tank. I was installing the sump and looked up. Wow this critter was huge and ugly. The white stripes is sand he/she has digested. I haven't got a clue on where to start looking for an ID on this guy. Just when you think you know your tank inside and out, you get this........

Weird!! Doesnt look like a bristle worm, too thin and stringy. Never seen it but I would keep an eye on it

My tanks have them too. I dont think they hurt anything. I hav lots of different worms in the sand. I think they help stir and clean. No names though, sorry!

That is what make your live sandbed live. There are lots of these guy in a sand bed. They seem to be some king of segmented worms. Regardless of the name or exact classification, they are beneficial for the tank in consuming waste

Got a bunch of them in my sand too. Just like you did, I can see them from underneath.

He does appear to be segmented. He reminds me of earth worms the way they aerate soil by consuming it. I wish they was more information out there for ID'ing aquarium critters. If anyone has a good website please post here. "Oh what is THAT growing?"........This is the stuff that got me hook on the marine hobby

These pictures were taken with my video camera, i then put the video on my computer and took screenshots to make pictures....my regular camera doesn't work well in the dark (i used the nightshot on my video camera and was very quiet) I don't know what that worm is....if anyone knows I'm interested because I don't know if they are harmful or not...It seems to eat the algea surrounding its tube but I have about 5 or 6 small dusters on the same rock and I wonder if this nocturnal worm will kill my feather dusters.

I spotted one of these in a rock that sets on my sandbed. When he retracts he seems to roll up inside himself. It's hard to explain.
As for a name, I call mine Snuffalupagus.

I think those are baby Tremors! If you seen the movies they must have based them on those pics.

Na, he is much thinner. A thick strand of hair maybe. That's some killer snapshots. They remind me of "Honey I Shrunk The Kids"
