i am doing a tank/stand/sump for someone and thought i would share the build. it will be a 48"x20"x20" cast acrylic tank with an external overflow on the back. the sump will be 36"x14"x14".

here is all of the acrylic for the tank and sump. it is all cut to size and the edges are sanded on the pieces for the tank. now to start the assembly....

here is one end of the sump as it is clamped for assembly.

Man this is so awesome... I might need a custom sump Ace for a small frag tank that I will be setting up in the summer. Hopefully you can help. Very nice work as always. I was just looking at the baffles, you think that trap all the bubbles?

Thu, 5th Feb 2009, 09:45 PM
Hold on...... Maybe i made a mistake, is it flat on its side?

hobogato
Thu, 5th Feb 2009, 10:22 PM
yep, it was on its side in that pic - that is how i glue the baffles in. that is the same baffle design i have used on lots of sumps - seems to work well.

last bit tonight:

sump with bottom attached and sock filter holder installed. will do euro bracing in the bottom and on the top tomorrow. in case you were wondering - the extra acrylic on the outside of the seams will be trimmed off using a router to make the corner perfect.

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c329/hobogato/projects/DSC03918.jpg

here is the first part of the tank - the ends attached to the front panel. will add the back panel in the morning before i go to work and continue tomorrow evening when i get home.

Ya know, every time I think I have the greatest wife in the world, that puts up with all of my cr@p and all of my projects and hobbies, then I run into one of Ace's projects.

Ace, I can't believe she just SMILES when you start these things in your LIVING ROOM. But she does...

"Hobo Tanks"

"Hobo everything...."

Need a logo Ace? Let me know. Slap a nice "Hobo" sticker on all your work!

Well I appreciate all your hard work and time that went in to building the set-up and as for what I do with it now is really going to Jeremy at B&B taking care of it once a week. I have promise not to do anything or add anything until i told its ok to. I have turned all of my saltwater tanks green many time so this one is B&B's Baby I'm just going to sit back and enjoy it. I still have the other 3 tank I can turn green and learn off of. Thank you Ace and Jeremy I have 1 awesome tank and its going to be beautiful when its all set-up. I will continue to post the pictures as the tank progresses.
