I've had this Zoa Rock for a couple months now and I knew it had an old hard coral skeleton on it when I got it, but this evening I noticed color and tentacles on what I thought was nothing more than a skeleton. Needless to say I was excited, but I have no idea which coral this is. It looks like a small LPS of some sort. What do ya'll think?

Looks like it's time to frag the Zoas out of the way so the little guy can grow. :)

Definitely an LPS. That's what a Favite is.

It wasn't so much a find as a surprise. It's been there all along and I had no idea.

I was thinking some sort of Favites also. Do those tentacles appear to be longer once the light goes out, if so watch them as it will get those zoas.

I'll try to check the tentacle length tonight. I was a little too busy with my seven-week-old son and work last night to check.
I've fragged the closest zoas away last night. I plan to remove all of them in the near future. At some point I want to remove the LPS as well so I can get rid of the rock. It's a very dense rock and I don't like having it in my tank.

Thanks for the input everyone. I feel like I'm at least pointed in the right general direction. :)

Is that the longest the tentacle/polyps have extended? I would guess either porites, maybe something close to a galaxea if the tentacles extend more...

I haven't had a chance to observe the tentacles yet. I'm hoping to get a look at them tonight or sometime this weekend.

It's been a while and I still don't know what this is for sure, but here's an updated pic:

It's fairly isolated at this point. I haven't noticed any long sweepers or anything. Acutally, night or day, I've never seen anything longer than what is visible in the pics.
