I am frustrated and need to vent. I just came home and found our helfreichi firefish had jumped up through the eggcrate top of the small tank sometime today and was a dried out anchovy on the floor.
That coupled with our clown fairy wrasse jumping onto the centerbrace this weekend and committing fishyside and my longnose hawk leaping to his death a couple of weeks ago, I am very frustrated and sad!
I hate this hobby sometimes!

Ouch... Sorry to hear that. I had an anemone eat my new cowfish last week. I feel your pain. Mine was more of an ignorant move on my behalf though.

Kristy, I'm so sorry about the firefish. I know you and your hubby were really proud of him. Didn't you have eggcrate on top of that hex tank? How did he make it out?

Very carefully, I guess, perfectly straight up through the little holes. We'll call him Houdini.

Is there something going on that is stressing the fish out?
Sorry to hear about your losses! Those were some nice fish.
I have to figure out how to remove a 4 Line Wrasse from a 215 gallon reef tank by Thursday. It has a tendancy to pick on anything it's size or smaller being added to the tank. I'm picking up a Quad of McCosker's Flasher Wrasse from Aquadome. Silly little fish doesn't realize how good he has it and there is plenty tank to share. He is going to be in time out for a few weeks in hope he can calm his butt down.

Nah, they're from different tanks even. All three are notorious jumpers, though.
Good luck getting your wrasse out.

I do the glass top also, but I know many people can't because of heat issues.

Sorry to hear about that. I had a firefish jump into my calfo a week or so ago. Looked down int there and he was just swimming around. Stuck a net into the calfo to retrieve him and as soon as the net went in he jumped right back into the main tank.
