i have 30 gal tank and it been up and running for almost 3 months now.i cleaning it last night and noticed i have 6 brittle starfish lil bitty things.and i was wondering where the come from.how do i take care of them.can i have the many in my tank.are they good for my tank.and any other info would be nice to.thanks for reading and any input you might have

they either came from your live rock or sand .... they are good cleaners but when they get big watch out they will kill your fish well at least my green one did

i lost 4 fish due to him i think ...

They're no harm, i have hundreds of those critters. They eat whatever in the LR ,no target feeding needed.

I think your fishes were dead already and those guys just came behind and clean it up.

i dont think my fish were dead .... i think he got a hold of them at night ... he was a good 10 inches+

The little ones he's talking about aren't the same species as the larger ones. The biggest they will get is maybe an inch in length from arm to arm. They are micro stars and I want to get some myself if anyone has any they can actually collect. Great little clean up guys to have.

The ones I have are like 2cm from tip to tip and are white

i got a bunch of them in a live rock with some zoas. when i brought it home i could see arms hanging out of the holes in the rock everywhere. they never come out during the bay just dangle their arms out of the holes in the rocks

My wrasse likes to eat them...I use to have hundreds...now I just have a few here and there.

No harm.

I would like some of those tiny stars. If someone around here can catch some of them I would like to buy them.
