I have a question. I have a 14 gallon Current Aquapod (bcusack1) that is currently being cycled. I will be running a 150 watt metal halide that I recently purchased (cpreefguy), and a Koralia1 (oceancube). Everything else is stock. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should place in the back chambers?

if its 14 gallons with a 150 watt halide on it you will have heat issues i would worry about that first

i was thinking the same thing ...



i was trying so hard with my gf's bio cube to get decent light but in the end i couldnt come up with anything that was decent .... i did find a place (awanna pets) that has the 12 inch t5 bulbs

Cram a chamber full of live rock rubble.

On other sites they tell you to use a sponge with Filter Floss.

"The sponges are only a nitrate trap if you don't frequently wash them out.
I only use one in the first chamber with floss on top. I wash it out with my waterchange water.

IMO the live rock rubble is just as much a nitrate trap if it is not periodically cleaned. "

Sponges are much more restrictive, and if one clogs up enough, you could have flooding issues. You could cut the power to your return and shake the LR off as you remove it from the back chamber. Then siphon out the water in there, which may be enough to count for a water change. Not sure how much water they hold in those chambers. www.nano-reef.com (http://www.nano-reef.com) and www.nanotuners.com (http://www.nanotuners.com) are two good sites for info.

Never liked the sponges I had in my old AP24....even when I cleaned them WEEKLY.
