I got tired of all my flake food goin ginto my sump, so with out thinking I took a piece of retangular strofoam, cut out the center and put it the tank during feeding. It works great! Keep the flakes contained until they start to sink....But will the styrofoam hurt the tank?

Just turn off your return pump for about 10 minutes while they eat

Don't drop the flakes on the top of the water. Hold the flakes down into the water and let the flow disburse the flake. Add small amounts at a time to make sure it all gets eaten.

There's always a product.

Second that. A power control center makes this much easier than having to unplug the cable. Look at DJ products for an inexpensive solution.

Second that too!

:)

I do both.
