during the day he will swim around and sometimes "hide" /"host" or what ever you want to call it on the clam ... the clam doesnt close up so i dont think she minds but when the lights go out the clam is closed up and Nemo will lay inside in the clam kind of .... is this bad and is it going to affect my clam ???

Seems to me like you will end up with either a dead clam or a dead Clownfish.

Place an anemone in there so it can host that and leave the clam alone.

i do have a LTA but i just put a new pair of clowns in since my old ones were nipping at my clam every once in a while ...

the biggeer one of the two clowns is in the LTA but the smaller one likes to swim in the clam ...

crazy clowns will host in whatever they want, not always what you want. Fish will be fine. Clam will not make it if you cant keep the fish from harassing it.

It never ceases to amaze the things I hear that clowns will host in.

My pair host in xenia and in some frilly shrooms depending on them. The funny thing is that ever since they decided to host in the shrooms they have started to multiply. Has anyone ever seen a damsel(domino) host in an anemone. I saw one at fintique last week and this week hosting in it.

After thinking it over, I decided to help you out. I'll take the clam so that you can have your clownfish (nemo)

Ha ha ha, nice. My clowns host the sand bed and power heads, and frogspawn, and everything in my tank!

My clown has been bedding down on everything in my tank, including the magnet. I bought him an rose tip today.

Get another anemone. I've seen your tank and you got room! Best of luck to you, but if you need I would probably buy one.

My domino would hide in the LTA , but I wouldn't say he hosted...

Mine have been hosting in my squamosa for over a year. the clam seems like its doing fine. Sometimes I wish the clam would eat the clowns. Like right after they throw my new coral frags into the hammer coral of death.

As long as the clam isn't irritated and able to extend it's mantle for most of the day, it should be ok. But, as said before, try to get a long tip or some other anemone to divert it away from that clam.

I'm pretty sure I lost a huge copperband a long time ago due to being clam crunched, but I think your clam will be OK if that's what you're worried about unless that clownfish is really persistent.

I've always loved this picture. FishCraze in Houston had this happen to a Juvi Emperor Angel when it tried to make a meal of one of his Crocea Clams. Guess who Won that battle.

I think it was Jim Norris that had a pair of black percs that used to host in his huge clam along the side of the mantle for a very long time. Never had any problems with it that he ever mentioned at the time.
