I have a pair of Picasso clown fish and one naked clownfish that I keep In my 30g, I know its not the best idea to keep all 3 in that size tank, all 3 clowns are about an inch in size, little baby clowns. Do I really need to get rid of one? I love both species of clowns, they have always been my favorite! Am I going to have to part with a Picasso?

I have always kept more then a pair, but I wanted to know of others experience. They seem to be doing great right now. They are very crazy little fish. They love all the flow. I hope they don't get cought in the power heads! These little guys ran me too much! Ha

If I'm not mistaken, they are the same species (unless one is a percula) they are just mutations. either way they should be fine and will eventually establish a hierarchy. The largest will be the female 2nd the male and the 3rd unsexed.

The naked is a false percula and the picasso is a percula.

Thats what I thought, but I 'm not too familiar with the mutations that have come out recently. They should still get along together. I think people have even cross bred the 2 species.

I had 2 pairs of clowns...my beautiful black & whites and a pair of true percs...after 5 yrs...the male blk/wht killed my blk/wht female & took off, hooked up with the male of the true percs....they killed that female and my male blk/wht became a female & now I have an odd pair living happily ever after in my blk/wht female old home of a colt. How is that for drama??? Sigh*

I've been tempted to pick up a pair. Aquatek has a nice group in one of their display tanks.

Nakeds  (try explaining that to my 9 year old... I would have to break down and give them propper names to keep the giggles at bay.)

I have a pair of Picasso Clownfish and absolutely love them. They are one of my favorite fish. Here is a pic I took of them a few months back...

I have these 3 clowns, what would you do if you were in my position? Would you keep all 3? Or get rid of one? If so which one!? I have always had a thing for both types of clowns!

IMHO, I would leave them all in, and keep a close eye on them. Be ready to take one out. You might loose one that way though. But they all might be fine. I am not sure about keeping true and false percs together though. Sounds a little dangerous to me. If it were me, and I had 3 variations of the same fish, I would definitely do it. I think I may try that soon actually. You might think about having another anemone in there as well.

Maybe you should try to keep them now with the new sunpod.

I'm afraid my 30 gallon is too small for an anemone

I have 2 in my 24. No problems at all. If they are getting enough light and flow they dont seem to move around much.

I have 5 clowns in my tank right now. I have 2 false percs 2 GSM clowns and 1 B/W clown. The 2 percs and the B/W all stay together and the GSM pair stay together. I have notice the 2 false percs picking on the smaller GSM clowns, so I have been trying to catch the GSM's to get them a new home. I didnt have a choice but to put them all together at the time. Im building a 20L so I think this will become the new home for the GSM's! Hopefully they make it a few more days with out to much fighting.

They pop up on here every so often, There was a couple not to long ago, might be worth checking the for sale forum to see if they sold.

I bought an anemone the other day, I got a purple foot one, I think it is a magnificent or somewhere around there?

Hamp

Those are amazing, but hard to keep alive. You might want to see if anyone wants to trade. It seems that a magnificent will do better in a bigger tank that has been established longer. They also get pretty big, and you might not have room for much else.

Wanna buy it? Ha

I would, but I will not have room for it until I set up the new tank.
