algae problem

What can I get to eat all the green hair algae that has grown all over my rocks? I'm also starting to notice cyano can I get anything local to eat this all up?

nothing eats cyno, water changes increase flow. hair algea may be due to high phosphates or water used for top off and water changes, also age of bulbs will cause it

water changes, manual remove it, lower phosphates, pull rock out and scrub it, turbo snails, foxface fish, coral beauty dwarf angel, change lights if they are old.

i have been fighting the same thing now for a while. The only thing that has quick results is if you leave your lights on for a shorter period of time. Otherwise do all of the above and hope for the best. Also frozen brine seems to have accelerated it more than other foods.

How old is your tank? If it's a new setup, then it's to be expected and it's time for a cleanup crew.

I have had the tank for about a month and a half, but all of it was transfered from a previous tank. Everything. But I guess I'm still going through my cycle again. I have about 30 snails and hermits in there, its a 30g tank.

The only things that I've found that will eat hair algae are mexican turbo snails (the large type of turbo snail), and a sea hair.
