you should buy a battery back for your powerheads. the same kind you would use for your comptuer.

or go buy yourself a couple of inexpensive power inverters from wally world. It's ghetto, but will work ina pinch.

I have 2 of them and can power my skimmer, fans, vortech, and return pump form the cigarette lighter in my truck.

Looks like I should be on my way to pick up some of that stuff! First time this has ever happened. You must have your truck really close to your tank! Ha that's crazy! But good enough to give it a try

You can also find cheap generators for a bit over $100.

Unless you have a really nice generator or UPS (battery backup) and are going to be out of power for a long period of time, I suggest either putting only your power heads, or your return pump, which ever uses the least electricity, on the backup source, that way if it lasts several hours it wont run outta juice. If you cant open a window curtain to let sun in and need the light for sure then just put half of your lights on it as well, if they have one ballast for acentic and one for white. Try to save the power. :) In a real pinch I'd stir the water with a spoon every 30 minutes to hour if your at the house and you have no backup. Good luck!
