View Full Version : Parade of Tanks?

:applause:I am new here, sorry if this is a silly question- but has anyone thought about a “parade of tanks”? Kinda like every one getting together car pooling and driving from house to house on a specific evening looking at everyone else’s tanks… I don’t know about you but I love to look at other tanks for ideas and such. This doesn’t sound like a silly idea for me. Maybe we could do it, right after the holidays when we have those few boring days before we have to go back to work. I live in San Antonio. Let me know what you think.

Yes, it has been done on a small scale before, and has been talked about in the past but nothing ever happened. I'm always willing to show of my mess

Haven't forgotten about the thread that mentioned we were making plans to do this. In fact, I was just thinking about finding it to give it a "bump" a couple of days ago. We would still be in, both to show off our tank and to get to peek at everyonje else's.

We tried to make this happen this last summer but there weren't enough people to volunteer their tanks. We can try this again...

If you are willing to show-off your tank...Please reply here.

I'll volunteer mine, if only to receive advice on how to proceed with my hodge-podge nano.

I will show off mine as well, might even make some finger foods.

I think if we got a regestration sheet, and people gave addresses we could map the city, each in order. Then we could pick a place to start. I have an 8 pasenger car we could hold a few.

We are still in.

And... can we ask that it is scheduled as far in advance as possible so that everyone can make themselves available, plan to be off work, etc. I travel a lot for work, so I have to plan WAY in advance, but would really like to participate if at all possible.

I propose we discuss what day of the week works best for all and time of day as far as when your tank looks best (mine's at about 7:30 pm). I wouldn't be able to come on a Saturday because I have a class.

I suggest doing it in areas to spur interest and cut down on the logistic's aspect. Do a North Austin, Hill Country etc. Ten to fifteen folk's invading someone's house id waaayyy different than 30+ folks roaming around your house. A lot of people are not too keen on having potentially a bunch of strangers in their house.

Cheers,

Just a suggestion...

I think you need to submit this idea to the Board so that MAAST can sponsor this event...otherwise it will probably not happen with any real commitments.

Well....it looks like Board Members have responded in earlier posts but maybe the idea needs to be handed over to them officially...???

I will write that down and when we have our BOD meeting it will be brought up! There are alot of things that we will have to go over so it will take some time. Thanks for understanding.

Who do we talk to? Bigbird?

The Board, and they present it at a meeting with the P and VP and make a decission on it and assign responsibilities. I think it is in good hands now...Eve has taken notes of it. Of course in earlier posts you had the P and VP responding as if it was going to happen...then it just died..so I guess this would be the next step for implementing it since nothing ever happened.

Or you could continue in the way that you were...but that didn't really work out, so....

several small carpools would work. The drivers could contact the person showing the tank to make sure the carpool before them has left. You could plan on spending an alotted amount of time at each house, with time for the owner to breathe inbetween carpools.

Mr Cob

"Go big or go home!" LOL.

MAAST could sponsor this and rent a small bus or large Van depending on the number of people interested in showing and or viewing, this way even the people showing their tank could still come on the trip to view the other tanks.

Maybe every 6 months or annually it's a new city, depending on how many tanks there are for viewing.

Mr Cob
Thu, 22nd Jan 2009, 03:56 PM
Or maybe we have a separate forum that people volunteer viewings of their tank. Once a month a new tank is featured and one day or two of that month it's open for viewing and everyone stops by on their own throughout the day or maybe a 4 hour period.

Just throwing some ideas out there.

To make things simpler, I will start another thread and we will get volunteers to show their tank. We will set it up for Mid-February. We can divide it by East and West and do it a week apart...East Tour and West Tour. We can determine a starting point and go from there.

This is a good idea. Maybe with a good ending point where we could all get together for drinks or something (non MAAST sponsored, of course...)
