I have a question.
Do blue hippos get aggresive ? I have one that is about 3 1/2" to 4" big in a 75 gallon tank,
I notice my coral beauty fins have been damaged and it's hiding behine rocks allot. Could it be the tang. Those are the only two big fish I have in the tank. The CB is about 2 1/2" in size. If it's the tang,it may be time for him go.

Someone told me that the tang is getting territorial.

Thanks
Bobby D.

Have you noticed this behavior? How big is the tang? How long have they been in the same tank? Have you watched them before your lights go off? Are they in competition for the same space?

If it is the tang, I would assume it is being territorial.

JRSATX20 I don't think it's my other fish picking on him. All I have in the tank is
1 purple fire fish
1 clown
2 chromis
1 cleaner wrasse
1 pyjama cardinal fish
1 coral beauty with damaged fins.
1 bule hippo tang.
1 cleaner shrimp
had a royal gramma but died something chewed on it's fins.
I'll keep you posted if I decide to sell the tang. (I'll know for sure in a couple of days).

Eric
The tang and the coral beauty have been togerther from day one. The tang is about 3 1/2 "to 4" big the CB is around 2 1/2". I haven't watched them when the lights go out, but when the lights are on, it seems like they get along, They swim by each other and the tang doesn't chase him.
Hey happy belated B-Day. Skydiving ?

That's why, I'm thinking it's the tang. my other fish are fine. they swim around all day.
The CB is the only one hiding.

I have had two that grew to the six inch range, before I traded or sold them. One was very docile and got along great, the other meanest fish in the tank.

Well the coarl beauty was found dead today, with it's rear fin gone. before the lights went out last night, the rear fin was only nipped on. May decide to get rid of the tang. It's hard cause he was one of the first fish I bought I when I got back into salt water. When I bought him he was only about the size of a 50 cent piece. If I do jrsatx20 will have first pick at him, if he is still interested. I'm going to toss it around for a couple of days. Then I 'll post if I'm getting rid of him.

Thanks for all the replies.

have you considered it might be a fuzzy crab when your fish are sleeping? I had one in my tank, killed a purple pseudo, firefish, and a sand sifting blennie. I would put a waterbottle trap in your tank and 1hr after lights out see, what is try to get into it.

are you still interseted in the blue tang? I bought another fish the other day and he's picking on him.The tangs about 3 1/2" long.
If not would anyone else like to make an offer. Not sure what he's worth. But I need him out ASAP.
I live in the Schertz area.(older part of Schertz)

Thanks Bobby
