Russ, please read this thread. Bill makes a good point about the way my unit is set up. Does the fact that there is a check valve and the autoshutoff valve make it ok to run it this way. This is the way the old coralife was hooked up also.

You can test it yourself - after your system has been shut down. If you have an inline meter, well, you know...

If not, run RO/DI water into sample cups, and see how long it takes to get to zero. Then compare it to how much your system runs out to do a topoff. That should probably have you ordering something else!

This system has a lot more back pressure if I dont shut it off at the source. I am not sure it is a good idea to have it running the way I do.
I have an in line and a portable TDS meter and can do that but doesnt solve the pressure problem.
